THE words of Boris Johnson were welcome news to many across the home building sector as the Prime Minister recently declared support by proposing alterations to chaotic planning systems and help for first-time buyers needing low-deposit mortgages.

Locally, the PM's speech was well received by Gleeson Homes, the company behind Grimsby's affordable homes build at Macaulay Park, with the Government-backed Help to Buy scheme already a supported part of the business.

To find out more about what they can offer people looking to purchase their first property, Lia recently visited staff and toured the show houses and site.

Gleeson Homes at Macaulay Park has space for several hundred houses, ensuring plenty of options for people looking to buy good quality, affordable homes.

The type of land Gleeson's tends to buy is brownfield with significant challenge, and this is what helps to keep the prices down. They also try to keep the supply chain local which helps the community and reduces the costs incurred on each site.

Lia commented: “This is certainly a positive use of brownfield sites. We need to 'Build Back Better' and businesses like Gleesons offer the opportunity to first-time buyers to sow the seeds for their own futures. I would encourage people to be homeowners, if they can – renting can be as expensive, if not more so, than owning your own home.

Private Investment in Grimsby

I am working hard to encourage private investors to consider Grimsby as a viable possibility for putting their capital into local infrastructure. Funds put into the right projects, in the right places, can bring great prosperity to a town such as ours.
