Constituency Update

Last week was a very busy week.

I welcomed Wybers Wood Primary School to Parliament and gave students a tour round, talking with them about Grimsby’s history as a constituency and the history of Parliament.

Visit to Chestnuts Care Home

It was lovely to visit Chestnuts Care Centre on Friday after some residents and their family members wrote in inviting me to visit.

Chestnuts provide specialist dementia care, and the team there is second to none. Everyone is extremely friendly and welcoming.

Nursery Closures

I've had a few enquiries regarding the planned closure of Scartho Nursery School, Great Coates Village Nursery and Reynolds Day Care.

For context, across the borough, we have on average 3 places for every 2-year-old, and more than double the necessary places for 3 to 4-year-olds.

Meeting with Fisheries Minister

Yesterday I met with Fisheries minister Mark Spencer to ask him about the progress on Grimsby companies’ UK Seafood Fund applications.

Grimsby's New CDC!

Today I met with Cllr Philip Jackson to discuss the new Community Diagnostics Centre (CDC) which will be opening in Freshney Place.

Meeting with the Chancellor

I was happy to join in this discussion with the Chancellor.

We spoke about regeneration in Grimsby and how this is progressing, and concerns about high levels of taxation and how this is affecting residents and businesses with current energy prices.

Working with the Police and Crime Commissioner

Jon Evison, our Police and Crime Commissioner, came to Grimsby last week to talk with me about crime and anti-social behaviour in our area.

We are working together for a safer and more vibrant Great Grimsby.

Constituency Update

Here’s my update from last week. Lots of stuff going on, as I was in & around the constituency all week, knocking on doors and talking to residents throughout the week.
